Day 3 - indoor training
Tuesday...day 3. I was late getting home tonight, so the kids decided to run on my treadmill and watch TV for their 1/2 mile. That was real easy, but I don't know if eating cheese puffs and drinking ice tea while running is really a good way to train. Hey, whatever works!

Day 2
So we voted on a name and we are the "Golden Eagles Jr Running Club". Including me we have 6 members. We logged in another 1/2 mile today. We are feeling awesome. Didn't even have to chase the ice cream truck today. My son is in-charge of the stretching exercises. Now we have to make a logo for a shirts and vote on a colour, they girls of course want pink, the boys want black. I might have to get an impartial voter to break the tie.
Birth of a running club
I've been a runner for a few years, and I have always wanted to find a way to get my kids to enjoy it as much as I do. So this year I thought I would try to get them off the couch and out running with me. Luckily, Santa brought them new running clothes and shoes, pedometers and a new attitude.
We started our first day by trying on all the outfits, shoes and starting a running journal for each kid. We invited some friends from down the street to join us. We tested our pedometers, and voted on a name for our club. I couldn't seem to get them off the couch though and out for our first run. I needed to find some motivation to get them started.
Along came the ice cream truck. Wow, I didn't think they could run at all let alone as fast as they did. I promised them a ice cream if they could catch her. That was our first 1/2 mile run.
When we got home, they coloured in their charts for a 1/2 mile. They are so excited now. We have planned our first run to be in Feb. There is a kids run sponsored by Ronald MacDonald House. They want matching shirts with our team name on it.
Lets see how day 2 goes.
